LAMB, CYCLIST, DOES WELL AT MASTERTON.

Glorious weather prevailed lor the Masterton Club's sports meeting on Saturday, a feature of which in as the ap pearance of Lamb. the Australian cyclist. The visitor displayed great ability and appeared to Vandle the turning on the track far better Ilian did Burness on liis visit two seasons ago. Great interest centred in Lamb s con tests with T. Oakley and in thrilling finishes he conquered the local rider Dj tW Lamb was unplaced in his heat of the mile, the final of which was won by H. Oakley in 2min 13sec.
The Australian won the one and a half miles invitation scratch race by a wheel from T. Oakley, who led into the straight. P. Harrison (Wellington) was close up third. Time —3min 15 l-ssee. Tn the three miles Harrison, from 150yds, took the lead in the last lap and won bv five yards. Lamb again had the best of T. Oakley, who was close up third. Time—Train 7sec. Lamb won his heat in the two miles handicap in 4min 42 2-sseo, T. Oakley winning his in 4min 87sec. The final saw Oakley reverse the positions on the visitor, the local rider stealing a march and winning by twelve yards from Baker, who beat Lamb by a length for second place. Time —4min There were large fields, necessitating heats in all but the three miles and the scratch race. A large team of Wellington runners gained many successes in the foot and field events.
