Asserting that he is the only son of the late ex-Empress Carlota of Mexico. William Brightwell, a Billingsgate fish salesman, claims a fortune of £750.000. He has already printed cards bearing (he title: “ His Imperial Highness the Archduke Maximillian." Maximillian and Charlotte were crowned Emperor and Empress of Mexico under the aegis of Napoleon 111. They reigned only a short Ii me, however, before their Government was overthrown. The Empress Carlota, as she was called in Mexico, left for Europe to seek aid and lost her reason when all her overtures were repulsed. Her husband fhe-Emperor Maximilliano surrendered, when the town he anil his small force were defending was betrayed, and he and his two aides were shot by the victorious Republicans. The Empress died last week.
