Mr and Mrs David Manson have returned from a visit to Auckland. Mrs IT. Mansfield left last evening for a holiday visit to the North Island. Mr and Mrs M. Barnett and Miss Tui Barnett, Colombo Street, arc spending a holiday in Auckland. Mrs T. W. Toornev and son, of Opawa, left, last night for Stratford, Auckland and Rotorua. Miss Jessie Mackay, Cashmere, has returned to Christchurch from Arthur's Pass. Mrs \V. Broadway, Cashmere, and her children, arc spending a holiday m Timaru. Miss E. M’Dowell returned to Christchurch during the week-end after a. motor tour through the South Island. Mr and Mrs J. J. Ardagh, who were spending a holiday at the Southern have returned to Christchurch. Mrs W. Tamieson accompanied by the Misses Isabel and Doris Jamieson, of Oxford, is visiting relatives in Hokitika. Mr and Mrs D. Stock and family, who arc spending the school holidays at Stewart's Gully, arc returning to Christchurch at the end of January. Misses S. and 11. Down, Addington, who have been on an extended holiday to the North Island, returned home during the week-end. Miss Mary Macdonald. Bealey Avenue, is the guest of Mrs E. C. Studholme, Waimate. Miss Amy Walsh, of Christchurch, is the guest o'f Mr and Mrs W. J. Dougherty, Arthur's Pass. Mrs Cook, of Runanga. is the guest of Mr and Mrs R. Gardner, Arthur's Pass. Through the new scale of charges adopted by the Christchurch City Council, water heating by electricity can be secured all the day round now at so cheap a price that Mercer Vacuum Electric Cylinders, the best heaters on the marekt, should be installed in every home. K. Sunibert, Melbourne, arc guests at tljp Clarendon Hotel. $ Miss G. Fountaine, of Timaru, who has late!\ r been the guest of Mr and Mrs J. Swiss, Dovleston, has returned home. Mrs R. IT. Gordon (Dunedin), with her two small daughters, is the guest of her sister, Mrs Tunnicliffe, Okains Bay. Mrs Mathew Holmes, and the Misses Catherine and Beatrice Holmes, Wellington, arrived in Christchurch this morning and are staying at Warner’s Hotel, Mr and Mrs Alfred James. Dunedin, have returned to the south, after a brief stay in Christchurch. Mr and Mrs Arthur Hasell and Miss Hasell, of Melbourne, are visitors to Christchurch and are registered at the United Service Hotel. Mrs Brooks-Wood, London, will leave for the north this evening, after a brief stay in Christchurch. Mrs p. j O’Connor and Mrs P. Malloy, of Auckland, who have been staying in Christchurch, will leave for the north this evening. Mr and Mrs J. M. M’Lean, Wellington, are recent arrivals staying at the Clarendon Hotel. Miss Harding, Sydney, and Mrs D. Crawford, Adelaide, are visitors to New Zealand and are at present in Christchurch at the Clarendon Hotel. Miss Helen Crichton-Imrie was a passenger on the Remuera, which arrived in New Zealand last Wednesday. In a recent interview with the High Commissioner for New Zealand, Sir James Parr, he commended very highly the work done by Miss Imrie for New Zealand products. Mr and Mrs L. W. Gee (Papanui Road) have returned from a holiday visit to Auckland. Mr Walter Clifford and Miss Arolia Cli fiord (Fendalton) are leaving tomorrow for a short visit to Wellington. Mr and Mrs H. H. Wauchop, Heaton Street, have returned to Christchurch from a holiday visit to Sydney. Mr Walter Potts and Miss Potts arrived from Sydney by the Maunganui for a short visit to New Bealand. Mr Potts, until recently, was chief inspector, Bank of New South Wales. Guests at Stonchurst include Messrs ,T. B. Apple wood, George Harper and Alexander Farmer of the Moscovitch company. The engagement is announced of Lina Rose, only daughter of Mrs R. S. Williamson, Idris Road, Fendalton, to Gordon Alison Guy, younger son of Mr and Mrs R. J. Connal, Tancred Street, Linwood. Visitors to Lake Ivanieri, Westland, include a camping party from Christchurch:—Misses Ngaio and Maisie Walter, Ida Godfrey, Lorna M’Kinlay, Violet. Quartermain, Gwyn Rowe and Verna Suckling.
