CHRISTCHURCH. Before Mr 11. P. Lawrj-, S.M.) MAINTENANCE CASES. Loren tx Ole Newman, a labourer, pleaded guilty to being in arrears on a maintenance order to the extent of £43 10s. He was sentenced to one months’ imprisonment, warrant to be suspended so long as he pays 10s a week oil arrears in addition to current maintenance. George Turnbull was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment for being £l3 Os 4d in arrears on a maintenance order in respect of an illegitimate child, warrant to be suspended so long as he pays 5s a week off the arrears, in addition to current maintenance. James Ilallam was ordered to pay 12s 6d a week towards the maintenance of his son, Frederick James Alexander Hallam, at present in the care of the Child Welfare Officer. Charles A. Kirk, for being in arrears to the extent of £4O 10s in respect for a maintenance order for his wife, was sen- I tenced to one month's imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended so long as j to pays 5s a week off the arrears in addition to current maintenance. Alodphus N. Thompson was sentenced to fourteen days’ imprisonment with hard labour for disobeying a maintenance order in respect of his wife. The warrant wilt be suspended so long as 10s a week is paid off the arrears, in addition to the current payments. John Hooper, for being £3 l«s Gd in arrears on a maintenance order for his brother, was sentenced to seven days’ imprisonment with hard labour, the warrant to be suspended as long as defendant pa3 r s current maintenance for four weeks and thereafter 2s 6d off arrears in addition to current maintenJohn Alexander Wheeler was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment in Mount Eden" gaol for being in arrears to the extent of £ls 15s on an order for the maintenance of his wife, the warrant to be suspended provided that he pays 2s Gd a week off the arrears in addition to current payments. Wheeler was similarly sentenced for being £lO 10s in arrears on an order for the maintpnance of his child.
