DOG AT TELEPHONE HEARS MASTER’S VOICE.
(Special to the “ Star.”) VANCOUVER, November 25. The Vancouver (British Columbia newspaper “Vancouver'Daily Province relates that a resident of Victoria los a retriever dog. An animal answerin; to the description given was found ii Vancouver, about 60 miles away, an< the owner was called by telephone “Let me speak to him (the dog),” re plied the owner, according to the news paper, which adds: — The receiver of the telephone wa: placed to the ear of the animal, whe from a state of deepest grief and de pression was translated to one of glee and ecstasy”. Leaping from those whe held him at the instrument, he search ed beneath tables and desks and be hind cupboards and doors for the mas ter whose voice lie knew so well. Apparently satisfied that the telephone was really” the source of the voice he hurried back to it, and for several seconds attentively listened at the rc“l told him I would soon have him home,” telephoned the owner, and apparently the dog understood, for he is now eating ravenously and appears quite content to await developments.
