“IMMIGRATION MAKES UNEMPLOYMENT ACUTE.”
“The immigration policy of the Government has not been touched upon in anv of our meetings,” said Mr F. C. Ellis, at the meeting of the executive of the Citizens’ Unemployment Committee to-day. “The policy is making the unemployment position acute. That is a phase of the question w’hich we have to touch upon. Several hundreds of immigrants came out here just the other day.” Mr A. Drayton: They were not all for Canterbury, but w’erc for different parts of the Dominion. Mr Ellis: That is so. The subject was not pursued further.
