RATANA WILL NOT PURCHASE FROM WANGANUI.
REPRISAL FOLLOWS HIS RECENT ARREST.
(Special to the “Star.") WANGANUI, January 13. There is weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth aihong many business men in Wanganui, owing to an ultimatum that they will not in future be admitted to Ratana pa. All this has been brought about through the police heing so unkind as to bring a prosecution against Ratana recently. No one but those intimately connected with the pa knows the loss this will mean to the business men of Wanganui. Ginger pop, Boston ice cream vendors, grocers, etc., lined up as usual at the main gate of the pah the other morning, and were informed that in future there would be no admittance, and it was a sorrowful procession that wended its way back to Wanganui. The loss Wanganui has sustained will mean a material gain to tradesmen m Alarton and Palmerston North in which direction the trade has now been switched.
