KAIAPOI WORKING MEN’S CLUB HOLD PICNIC.

The annual picnic of the Kaiapoi Working Men’s Club, which was held on Monday, proved most enjoyable. A special train conveyed between 400 and 600 passengers to Oxford to the well sheltered grounds of Pearson Park. Excellent arrangements for the day’s outing were made by the Picnic Committee, Mr J. Lynskey (chairman), Messrs J. C. Simpson, J. Ball, A. R. Tavendale, L. P. Hopkins, J. Brown and J. A. Mealings (secretary). In addition to the sports programme, numerous events were arranged for the children, who were also supplied with toys, ice cream and soft drinks. During the day a bowling match was played between the K.W.M.C. and the Oxford club, resulting in a win for Ivaiapoi by two games to one. The sports events resulted as follows: —Committee race—J. P.
