OSCILLATORS AND PIRATES BEWARE!

“Oscillating Oswalds,” that family of amateur radio nuisances who persist in making the wireless world hideous with howling valves, are to be hunted down by the Government. With the recent appointment of Mr A. W. Head as Deputy-Radio Inspector at Christchurch, the Department is, it is understood, going to institute an intensive campaign against these howlers. Their location will be made known by direc-tion-finders. The unlicensed radio receiver has created another type of pirate—that of the air. His operations are to receive a check, and it is believed that the Department will press for heavy penalties whenever convictions a.re entered.
