BOOKINGS AT TOURIST OFFICE SHOW INCREASE.
Advice from the office of the Tourist Department is to the effect that bookings for the various resorts have been considerabl} r heavier than they were last year, and the officer in charge, Mr L. J. Bayfield, made the prediction today that the traffic from overseas is going to be better this year than ever it has been. Usually that traffic does not begin until well after the Christmas holidays, but already a number from England, America and Australia have made bookings. Mount Cook bookings have been well lied lately, and the Franz Josef Glacier has attracted a large number of people, as has Ilanmer Springs.
