MANY RAILWAY EXCURSIONS THIS MONTH.
January is the picnic month, and this year the Railway Department has been called upon by many societies and firms to convey large parties to various resorts. The following are the excursion trips booked for the month with the Department:— Saturday. January S —Caledonian Society’s excursion to Methven. Sunday, January 9 —Lyttelton Railway staff excursion from Lyttelton to Motukarara. Thursday, January 13—Waimate Friendly Society’s excursion to Timaru. Two trains, carrying an aggregate of 1600 passengers. Thursday. January 20—New Zealand Breweries, Ltd., excursion from Christchurch to Motukarara. Saturday, January 22—Christchurch Electricity Department’s excursion to Stewart's Gully. Saturday, January 22—Christchurch tramway staff’s excursion to MotukaSaturday, January 22—Christchurch City Council’ office staff’s excursion to Lyttelton. Saturday, January 22—Christchurch City Council employees’ excursion to Little River. Wednesday, January 26—Canterbury Public Service Society’s excursion to Lyttelton. Wednesday, January 26—Lyttelton Harbour Board’s excursion to Ashburton. Thursday, January 27—Christchurch Gas Company's empio3 r ees’ excursion to Kaiapoi. Saturday, January 29 —Timaru Friendly Societies’ excursion to Waimate. Saturday, January 29 —T. 11. Green and Co.’s emploj-ees’ excursion to Motukarara. Saturday, January 29—Canterbury grocers’ assistants’ excursion to Ashburton. __________
