In the Sheffield Shield match against Victoria, South Australia in the first innings made 148 (Williams 21, Pritchard 56, Grimmett 19). Morton took five wickets for 70 and Blackie four for 59. Light showers in the morning made the wicket a bit tricky. The visitors made a poor showing against the deadly bowling of Morton and Blackie, the first seven wickets yielding only sixty Pritchard and Grimmett stemmed the debacle for a time, the partnership putting on 53. Once it was broken the bowlers made short work of the remaining batsmen. Victoria in the second innings has lost three wickets for 168 (Woodfull 34, Ponsford 84, Hendry not out 36). Ponsford and Woodfull opened brightly, cutting and driving freely. After losing Woodfull. Ponsford looked like adding another three-figure I score to his list, but had the misfortune to get his leg before. He gave two chances to-day. Tic. has passed the coveted mark of 5000 runs made in first-class cricket. Hendry played bright cricket. The bowlers looked easy. In Victoria's first innings he icore was 301.
