SURF RESCUE MEN HOLD COMPETITION AT NORTH BEACH.

NEW BRIGHTON CLUB WINS CHAMPIONSHIP. Life Saving Day, an innovation on the part of the Canterbury Surf and Lire Saving: Association, was held at Nort h Beach yesterday, and proved an entire success, being far superior to the old method of deciding tho events. Up till this year the three competitions, the Hay Blank ('up (the Canterbury Club championship), the Sumner Cup for competition by teams of four, and the Benson Cup for Juniors, had been held on separate days, and the chances of getting a good attendance under these conditions were remote, but on JJfe Saving Day the three were held together, and the interest displayed was gratifying. Two teams from the North Beach Club and two from the Brighton Club contested the senior events, and the Brighton senior team was successful by narrow margin.*on both occasions. All the work during the day was of a high standard, both in the senior and junior divisions.
