HE BRAVED SHARK IN AN ENDEAVOUR TO SAVE FRIEND.

When the boy Allum was attacked by the shark, a youth named Stanley Gibbs heroically went to his rescue, punching the monster ilntil it released its hold. Gibbs commenced to swim to the shore, pushing the victim before him. The shark again atateked, but was beaten oil by Gibbs until a boat arrived. Mervyn Allum, aged fifteen, was bathing with other bovs at Port Hacking (eighteen miles south of Sydney) when he was seized by a large shark’ which stripped the flesh from a leg andlacerated the lower part of his body. The boy’s companions drove the monster off and Allum was brought ashore He died en route to hospital.
