NEW MAORI PROPHET BEGINS CAMPAIGN.

PROPOSAL TO TOUR NORTH ISLAND. (Special to the ‘Star.”) WANGANUI, January 4. A farmer from Karioi, who was visit ing Wanganui, reports that a new Maori prophet in the district has com menced operations in opposition to Ra tana. The first gathering of his flock took place at Christmas time, \vhen various matters for the launching ot the new creed were discussed. A number of Ratana's followers in the Ohakune district have promised to link up with the new prophet, who proposes to take a delegation throughout the North Island.
