EXCURSIONS PROVIDE ATTRACTIVE JAUNTS The Railway Department’s figures show that the traffic on trains from Christchurch on Saturday and to-day was more than satisfactory. About 5060 passengers left Christchurch on Saturday. The figures are:— Lyttelton 1500 Timaru excursion 900 South expresses 860 Motukarara 260 West Coast 384 Darfield 7U Total 3914 This total is increased to about 5300 by excursions from Rangiora and Kaiapoi. More than 1000 passengers took advantage of the excursion from Rangiora t<*Otira. and 500 went from Kaiapoi to Oxford.
