LYTTELTON MAN DIES FROM FALL DOWNSTAIRS
About: 9.30 on New Year’s Eve a man named Frank Robert Roder was found in an unconscious condition at the foot of a flight of stairs leading into the basement at the Fire Brigade Station, Lyttelton. He was removed to his home, and was later attended by Dr B. 11. Gilmour. It was found tha’t Roder was suffering from a fracture of the skull, and he was immediately removed to the Christchurch Hospital. His condition grew worse and he died at 1.30 on Saturday afternoon. Deceased was a single man, aged fortyfour years, and was a waterside worker by occupation. An inquest was opened vesterday morning before Mr li. P. Lawrv, and after evidence of identification had becn_ given was adjourned until January 5 at Lyttelton.
