DISGRACEFUL SCENE FOLLOWS INTERNATIONAL GAME AGAINST IRELAND PARIS. January 1. Twenty thousand people witnessed the international Rugby match in which Ireland defeated France by S points to 3. Disgraceful scenes attended the conclusion of the play, a section of the spectators who had been verbally hostile for the most part of the game, disputing many of the referee’s decisions, invaded the ground, menacing the referee, the ex-Scottish international skipper, R. Scott. The latter eventually escaped by the back door of the stadium under police protection. It. remains to be seen whether the. Irish will make a formal protest and whether they will refuse to play France henceforward. Crawford, the Irish captain, said that he would not make an official report. French critics and the team agree, that S*:ott carried out his duties as a referee in an unexceptionable manner.
