WELLINGTON ARE PILING UP BIG LEAD ON OTAGO
Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, December 29. The weather was fine for the resumption of the Plunket Shield match, Wellington v. Otago. With four wickets down for 103, Wellington resumed their second innings, Lowr}* (35) and Lambert (15) going to the creftse. Blunt opened the attack, Torrance bowling from the other end. Lambert reached 20 with a nice stroke to the boundar)*, but shortly after he popped one up and Blunt took a good catch off his own bowling. 118—5—25. M’Girr was next, and opened brightly with a boundary off Blunt. Lowry continued to bat attractively 7, and sent Torrance hard to the fence. A little later, however, he endeavoured to pull a straight one from Torrance and his stumps were skittled. 125—6—44. ITollings came next and opened with a couple off Blunt. He followed up with a boundary off a full toss from the same bowler. With the total at 142 M’Girr went for a hit off Torrance but he gave 11. C. Alloo an easy catch. 142—7—11. .lames was next, and Hollings ran into double figures.
At 154 A. W. Alloo was given the ball in place of Blunt. Both batsmeh were scoring well, and Hollings reached 20 with a snick through the slips. At noon the score was seven for IS2. OTAGO.
