The Treasury Department declared that prohibition enforcement durthe fiscal year beginning July 1, 1927, would cost over 33,000.000 dollars. The Assistant Secretary, Colonel Andrews, asked the House Appropriations Committee for 13,000.000 dollars for the Federal unit. The coastuard unit wants 20,000,000 dollars.
