BENO MOISEIWITSCH GETS HEARTY WELCOME.
(Special to the “ Star.”) LONDON, October 1. Mr Beno Moiseiwitsch, who has a knack of being early in the field with each recurring concert season, had, as a matter of course, a large and enthusiastic audience, including a number of his fellow professionals, at the Wigmorc Hall. \V., on Saturday, when he had no difficulty in demonstrating that long voyaging by land and sea has in no wise impaired the brilliance of his playing or abated his natural force. Very much the contrary, indeed. For if his playing seemed to have undergone any deterioration at all it was m respect of an occasional tendency to thump unnecessarily. But in general he played as deftly and persuasively as ever, and in the course of a tvell-varied programme delighted once more all his hearers. In some familiar Chopin things he was, as usual, at his best, but, in a different vein he played also some of the B rah ms- Paganini variations particularly happily.
