STOLE A MARCH ON N.Z. A. AND C. UNION.
UNREGISTERED RUNNERS COMPETED IN GIFT RACE. It has been discovered that some of the runners who competed for the English Park Stadium's big cash race on Saturday night last are not registered, and the Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Athletic and Cycling Union will now be faced with the problem of dealing with them in gome manner or other. I Rule 22 of the by-laws and regula tions of the New Zealand Athletic and Cycling Union reads as follows:—"Any person competing in any event without- first being registered shall be liable to disqualification for life, and nd unregistered person shall be entitled td receive any prize-mdney from any sports society." The Stadium Gift race, which car- ' ried prize-money to the value of £25. was to have been run off during Show Week, but it was postponed on account lof wet weather. The heats and semifinals were decided last Saturday, but heavy rain prevented the running of the final, which was put off till next Saturday night. In the meantime it has transpired ' that some of the men who have got into the final have not registered. The two courses open are for the centre to disqualify the unregistered men or for the Stadium authorities to re-run the ; event.
