CRICKETERS IN AUCKLAND SHOW SOME GOOD FORM.
Per Press Association. AUCKLAND. November 22. The keenness which is being dip played by the cricketers of Auckland this season was well demonstrated in the senior competitions on Saturday, when three centuries were recorded. Two were compiled by University batsmen at the expense of North Shore. B. W. J. Smeeton had bad luck in not making 200, being dismissed for 196, while D. R. Garrard, the University captain, was not out, 115. The University score was 462 for four wickets. The third century was registered by J. E. Mills for Eden against Grafton, at Eden Park, and his innings was undoubtedly most meritorious as he had to face bowlers of better class than North Shore.
The best bowling performance of the day was pu(t up by E. H. Bowley, the English coach, who, pla\dng for Y.M.0.A., took six Ponsonby wickets for 264 runs. Bowie}’ was given out Ibw without scoring. His team is 27 behind on the first innings With .three wickets to fall.
