NEW ZEALAND INVITES SOUTH AUSTRALIAN CRICKET ELEVEN.
GRIMMETT, RICHARDSON KEEN TO MAKE TRIP. (Special to the “ Star.”) AUCKLAND, November 10. The question of accepting New Zealand's invitation to send a cricket team to the Dominion this season has been deferred by the South Australian Association until it is known whether A. Richardson and C. V. Grimrnett will be available. Advice to this effect was received by the Auckland Cricket Association this week. As the Australian eleven, of which Richardson and Grimmctt are . members, was on a brief visit to Auckland, the chairman of the association took steps to ascertain the position. He interviewed Richardson and ,Grimmett prior to their departure by the Aorangi yesterday, and both men gave an assurance that thev were keen to make the trip. They pointer! out. however. that they bad been absent nine months and must first ascertain whether they could make the necessary business arrangements to allow them to visit New Zealand.
It is understood that South Australia's last inter-State match will take place about January 10. Grimrnett and Richardson jrave been asked to urge that South Australia's visit should follow as soon as possible after that date.
