“THE BELLS” HAS GREAT APPEAL.
LIONEL BARRYMORE HAS STRIKING ROLE.
Seldom lias a screen actor handled a "heavy” part with sm h complete success as has JaoneT Barrymore that of Mathias in "The Beils," which is the feature film at the Grand Theatre this week. Other actors in the film give good accounts of themselves, but Barrymore. is head and shoulders above them in the character! sat ion of Mathias, a part, made famous on the legitimate stage by the acting of the late Sir Henry Irving. The screen adaptation, and the acting of Barrymore, make the production as compelling and powerful as did the speaking stage, which is saying a great deal. The comedy side of the programme is introduced with Matt. Moore playing in “ His Majesty. Bunker "Bean," a laughable film which sets a high standard for originality and cleverness.
