“WHITE CARGO ” IS STILL BIG DRAW AT THEATRE ROYAL.
LEON GORDON GIVES GREAT CHARACTER STUDY "White Cargo,” Leon Gordon’s three act drama, is attracting large audiences to the Theatre Royal. "White Cargo” is a realistic play in which a tropical atmosphere is created by means of excellent acting and the elements in the play itself. It has as its theme the degradation of a white man faced with the loneliness and monotony that must come to him on a. West African trading station. The man is full of strength at the start, hut slowly the heat saps his mental and physical vitality. Mr Leon Gordon as the cynical, almost sardonic trader who has “stuck it out” does a polished piece of acting. Mr Wallis Clark, as the drink-sodden doctor, gives a convincing study. Miss Helen Stransky, who plays Tondelayo the half-caste girl, do«s a splendid piece of character work. The other roles are adequately filled. “White Cargo” will be repeated tonight.
