POLITICAL CRISIS ARISES IN IRAQ.
By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Aus. and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received November 6, 11 a.m.) BAGHDAD, November 5. A remarkable situation has arisen at Irak, in consequence of the resignation of Cabinet, following on the defeat of the Government’s nominee for the Presidency of the Chamber of Deputies. The adverse vote was due to the defection of fifteen unsophisticated Kurdish members, who have since apologised to the ex-Prinie Minister, explaining that they voted against the Government's nominee purely for personal reasons, and had no idea that defeat would involve Cabinet’s resignation. The ex-Prime Minister, while accepting the explanation, refuses to form a new Cabinet unless the King consents to a dissolution, and a general election. In the meantime, telegrams have been despatched to Jaffar Pasha, Jrak’s representative in London, inviting him to return and form a Cabinet.
