“ Tour Will Be Failure Unless Vast Change Occurs.”
NEW ZEALAND LEAGUE MEN MAY REPAIR FORTUNES BY WINNING TEST ON NOVEMBER 13.
By Telegraph.—Press. Association.—Copyright.—“ Sydney Sun ” Cable. (Received November 6, 11 a.m.) LONDON. November 5. The “Daily News” says: “Admittedly, the New Zealand League players are suffering from casualties, necessitating threequarters playing forward, but unless a vast change occurs the tour will be a failure. The attendances have been poor. Even at Leeds, the game’s chief stronghold, the receipts for last week were £269, compared with £1558 on the former tour. Trade depression does not account for the slump. • t “ The New Zealanders’ best chance of recovering; their fortunes is to win the test at Hull on November 13, in which the selectors have increased the visitors’ prospects by the inclusion of three younger players.” The New Zealanders play at Paris on January 30.
