Heavy showers to-day caused a subsidence at Omoto which stopped train traffic on the Reefton-Otira line and a special race excursion train was cancelled. would-be passengers going by cars to Ot.ira to connect with the Christchurch train. Telegraph communication was restored this morning with Westport, but is still cut off between Jnangahua Junction and Nelson. Several miles o line are reported to be down between Murchison and Inangahua. No further reports are to hand regarding the district. Flood damage is a record. The water at the Greymouth bar this morning was 36 feet.
