STAGE PISTOL DID NOT GO OFF AND ACTRESS GOT SCARE.
(Special tos the “Star.”) LONDON, September 16. There was an unrehearsed and unextect s 9 ene in the last act of the play The Idiot ’ at the Little Theatre last night. Michael -Hogan, in the character of Rogorjia, is supposed to shoot Nastasia, played by Miss Stella Arbenina. At the crucial moment, when Mr Hogan raised the pistol, it refused to go off. What happened was described by Mr Hogan at the end of the performance. “When the revolver refused to go ofi,” he said, "I was for the moment at a loss. Then crying, ‘I can’t do it.;' I flung the weapon away and caught Miss Arbenina: by the throat.” Miss Arbenina said; “Mr Hogan gave me the biggest fright of my life. Before I could grasp what was happening I found myself on my knees screaming. My throat is still sore.” People in. the audience who were not familiar with the play- were unaware that anything unusual had taken place.
