“ TIMES ” AND “ STAR ” DELIVERED IN SPITE OF WAIMAK. FLOODS.
COUNTRY MEN PRAISE WORK OF PUBLISHERS. In spite of the heavy Waimakariri floods, disorganisation of rail and road services, and consequent difficulties of travel, the publishing and delivery staff of the “ Lyttelton Times ” and “ Star ” carried out their duties yesterday and to-day without a hitch. As the main roads were impassable, the deliverery cars made a big detour and reached Rangiora and Kaiapoi via the Gorge road. Readers in the outtying country districts received the "Lyttelton Times” and "Star” tiecause the publishers refused to be held up, and for their great efforts while the flood, was at its height the publishing staff received high praise from country residents. This morning the “ Lyttelton Times ” oar was among the first to reach Christchurch from the country via the Main North Road.
