Mr L. Palmer was now prepared to dedicate the land at the corner of Palmer’s Road and River Road, provided the council fenced the corner, formed the footpath and constructed a concrete kerbing and side channel. Councillors Shaw and M’Croanor submitted estimates for the erection of a dressing shed on the sports ground. The motion to erect this shed was lost. It was decided to reconsider the matter when tenders had been received for some pine trees which a.re to be cut down in the Rawhit.i Domain at the back of Lo.nsdale Street. r l’he Standing Committee recommended that the sum of £SO be voted t" the Unemployment Fund on.a basis of £ for £, that local men be employed and that the. work, be carried out in the borough -and to' the approval of the joint committees of the Unemployment Fund and the council. A coinmittec consisting of Councillors Classon, Shaw and the overseer had been appointed to work with the committee of the Unemployment Fund.
