Immediately the Scotsmen took the field, a drizzle started. Woodfull was brilliantly taken at fine slip, very low, from the fifth ball. The Australians then commenced to liit freely. Gregory, making the pace, knocked up 4,2, 4, 4, oft one over from Groves. Altogether he hit twelve fours and one six. Ponsford and Ryder gave an attractive and vigorous display, the partnership adding 89 in fifty minutes. Rvder's score included twelve fours. Oldfield also batted soundly, all the runs coming from good strokes. In the Scotsmen’s second innings the scoring was mostly by singles, except Groves. who drove powerfully all round.
