AUCKLAND AMATEURS CONCLUDE CONTESTS. (Special to the “Star.”) AUCKLAND, July 21. The amateur boxing- championships were concluded last night. J. D. O Sullivan a strong contender for the bantam title, was suffering from influenza and was unable to compete, as was M. A. Peryer, for the lightweight title, on account of an injury sustained in a motor accident on the way from Papakura to the tournament. Results:— FLYWEIGHT. P. Verrall beat K. M’Lachlan. N. Cammiek beat R. Stewart. Final. Cammiek beat Verrall. BANTAMS. Final. F. Taylor beat T. G. Shandley. FEATHERWEIGHT. G. Smith beat R. Hookway. V. C. Rickard beat F. Clarke. Final. Smith beat Rickard. LIGHTWEIGHT. B. Nelson beat T. Slattery. Final. Nelson was disqualified in the third round for holding and hitting C. Broadfoot. WELTERWEIGHT. R. La Roussee beat R. Dyson. Final. La Roussee beat R. Thompson. MIDDLEWEIGHT. Final. J. Willis beat D. Mitchell. CRUISERWEIGHT. Final. A. Ilogg beat R. Murray. HEAVYWEIGHT. Final. P. M’Carthy beat C. Hayden.
