Mayor Quotes Spurgeon, “Don’t Chew Your Pills.”

“Contentment in Life” was the. subject chosen by the Mayor, Rev J. K. Areher, in his ten-minute address at the Beckenham PS.A. yesterday. As a recipe for contentment Mr Archer quoted Spurgeon’s advice i “Don’t ohew your pills.” There were three pills in life which people found extremely hard to swallow. The first was trouble. Trouble was brought into our lives through ourselves, our families, our affairs, or through the country at large. Many people in dwelling on

their troubles forgot that they could forget them by helping others. The second pill was revenge. Thoughts of revenge invariably hurt ourselves more than the other party. The third pill was the feeling that we had made mistakes ourselves. We all had our sorrows, our difficulties, our disappointments, and failures, ind ts-e should learn the lesson and, making a fresh Start, tfV and do better next time.
