Thousands of women, headed by Mesdames Pankhurst and Despard, and Dame Fawcett, and including women who were candidates for Parliament at the last election, Justices of the Peace, councillors, teachers, students and actresses, marched in procession to Hyde Park, demanding the franchise for women on equal terms to men.
