Rose Beaten Out Of Place In Mile Contest At English Championships.

In the mile race at the English Amateur Athletic Championships, Rose was below form. He could only finish seventh. J. W. McHolm came second in the hammer-throwing event. Porritt was badly beaten in his heat of the 100 yards.

An amazing double was recorded by Webster, the ten-mile British champion, in winning the four miles in 19min 40 3-ssec and the two mile steeplechase in lOmin 34 l-ssec, a record. Failed to Show Form. LONDON. July 4. The half-mile at Stanford Bridge is described as the most wonderful race ever run. because the times of both Peltzer and Lowe broke. the world’s record. Porritt was disappointing, being badly beaten in his heat. Rose completely failed to reproduce New Zealand form. He left the field at the start, and maintained a hot pace for half a mile, then he faded away, and finished seventh.
