Their Majesties the King and Queen of Britain and the King and Queen of Spain were among the 100,000 thrilled spectators at Hendon to witness the biggest air pageant in history. Craning necks followed the evolutions of aeroplanes of all types, the machines defying the laws of gravitation performing speeding acrobatics- Gigantic bombers dropping missiles, tiny Moths of stupendous speed, singleseaters, and many machines of qua.nt design equipped with secret devices, took the air in succession, their silver grey hulls scintillating in the bright sunshine. The Air Force Squadron which recently return from Cape Town participated. The pilots were presented to their Majesties. Special interest was shown in a new Pterodactyl, resembling a huge moth, hovering and slowly’ turning at low heights, and also an autogyro which uncannily time after time demonstrated its ability to slowly descend vertically.
