TWO MOTOR SMASHES TAKE PLACE ON PAPANUI ROAD.
Two accidents occurred between mo-tor-cars and motor-cycles on the Papanui Road yesterday: The first occurred when a car driven by L. Cordery, jun, and a. motorcycle ridden by VVilliam Farquar, collided The cycle was thrown against a tramway pole, and Farquar received internal injuries and injuries to his hand, which necessitated his removal to the Hospital, Where he is reported to be doing well. Farquar is a single man, twenty-four years of age, who resides at 43, Church Street, Rangiora.
The second accident occurred a little before three yesterday afternoon. A five-seater Essex car came out of Rugby Street on to the Papanui Road, and a collision occurred between it and a motor-cyclist who was proceeding up Papanui Road in a northerly direction. Fortunately, nobody was injured, though the cycle was badly crumpled. The car, which had been driven over the sidemhanuel in an effort to avoid the accident. had a front wheel smashed. and the ljai-k tyre was damaged.
