CAMBRIDGE HAS ANOTHER BIG BLAZE. Per Press Association. CAMBRIDGE, July 5. Following Thursday night’s lire, when the Farmers’ Auctioneering Companv’s premises were totally destroyed, and portion of the Central Hotel gutted, a further serious outbreak occurred on Saturday about 9 p.m., when the Central Hotel was discovered to be in flames. The brigade arrived promptly and found great flames bursting through the windows of the upper storey. The fire spread rapidly to the whole of the front and the greater part of the upper storey. With five leads of ho.se the brigade did magnificent work, though handicapped by low water pressure. The fire was confined largely to the upper store}’, which was practically burned out. As the result of falling debris, together with the damage caused by water, the whole of the building is E ractically a wreck, and will have to e completely demolishedThe hotel is an old building, owned by James Fleming. Tuakau. Renovations were completed only last week. The insurances on the building are £3OOO in. the United JJffice and £3OO in the Royal, on the stock, £IOOO in the Guardian Office, and on the furniture and effects £IOOO in the Guardian Office. Banfield’s hairdressing saloon in the lower storey of the hotel was insured for £3OO- on the stock and fittings. It is believed that the outbreak was due to fire left smouldering in the walls after Thursday’s fire-.
