LONG DISTANCE FLIGHTS COMMENCED.
FRENCH AIRMEN SET OUT ON TESTS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Aus. and N.Z. Cable Association. PARIS, July 1. Several competitors will shortly try to beat the brothers Arrachards’ new record non-stop flight. Captain le Maitre, who accompanied the Arrachards, sets out to-morrow for Senegal, and Captain Girier for Western Russia. Captain Challe will later fly to Central Europe. It is significant that all are using different motors. This is due to the Air Ministry’s desire to stimulate rivalry in the air motor industry.
