The death of Archbishop Lowther Clarke is announced from London. The Most Rev Henry Lowther Clarke, D.D., was born in 1850 and ordained in 1874. He became Bishop of Melbourne, in 1902 and Archbishop in 1905, retiring in 1920. The Rev L. B Neale, of Rugby Street Methodist Church, lias just undergone a serious operation. He is making good progress towards recovery, but it will be some weeks before he will be able to resume hss duties. Miss Agnes Holland, of Westport, has accepted the position of private secretary to the leader of the Opposition, and has left for Wellington. At the annual meeting of the Edgeware Bowling Club last evening, Mr C. H. Banfield, an old and highlyrespected member, was elected a life member. At the present time Mr Banfield is seriously ill and members expressed the hope that he would be speedily restored to health. Mr M. Clivey, of Sydney, is staying at the United Service Hotel.
