By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Aus. and N.Z. Cable Association SYDNEY, June 24. Mr Baddeley refused the request of the Accident Insurance Underwriters’ Association. He stated that no valid reason had been shown for postponing the operation of the new Act and another thiee months would not have material effect in producing more reasonable premium rates, and members of the community, for whose benefit the Act was passed, would be deprived of their compensation rights which, in the Government’s opinion, should have been operative many years ago. Mr Lang has announced that he has instructed the* Treasury Insurance Branch to become a licensed insurer under the Workers Compensation Act, and ter advertise for business in competition with private companies. The name Treasury Branch had been charg. ed to the Government Insurance Office of New South Wales.
