REDS EXPLOIT TROUBLES OF UNEMPLOYED.
“WILD” PAMPHLET ISSUED IN AUCKLAND. “SOVIET SYSTEM IS THE ONLY REMEDY.” 1 manner in which the unemploy|,ment position is being exploited for .political purposes is well illustrated by a pamphlet called the “ Bulletin of I the Unemployed,” which has been J issued in Auckland by a body calling I itself the executive committee of the National Organisation of the Unemployed. The imprint states that the pamphlet was “ printed by the Proletarian Press of O. Bourbeau.” He is a well-known Communist. One of the articles, which is headed : “What is the Remedy?” states that “ the ultimate remedy is the abolition of the Capitalist system of production for profit, and replace it by the Soviet system of production for use and not for. profit. . . . Ask yourself, are you going to be compelled by the capitalist class to become skeletons in your clothes?” It is suggested that the first week the unemployed are without pay “ they should accompany us to the Charitable Aid Board to demand relief.” A further suggestion is that a club should be formed for the unemploj'ed of Auckland. Unemployed comrades in other centres are urged to organise and to set up executive committees and advisory boards, consisting of militant members of the Labour movement. “ The unemployed problem,” states the pamphlet, “ has come to stay, as in other capitalist countries. As economic conditions become worse and our comrades from overseas stream in, our ranks are going to be swelled. The aim of the unemploverl must (»e to create one national organisation.” Mr S. Fournier, the Communist leader in Christchurch, who handed a copy of the pamphlet to a reporter today, stated that the question of affiliation with the Auckland body would be discussed at a meeting of the unemployed to be held to-morrow morning. Already there are evidences of a desire on the part of some men, who seem to enjoy being on the unemployed list, to create a permanent organisation in this city. Mr Fournier, the present leader of the unemployed, is a parttime worker who is able to devote the mornings to organising work.
