ACTRESS WHO WORE FIG LEAF ONLY, ARRESTED.

NEW YORK, Tune 6. One theatrical performance has been closed and another amended by the Citizens’ Theatre Jury, a body of men and women who exercise a censorship over the theatre. The musical revue, “The Bunk of 1926," was closed because “ it was objectionable from the point of view of public morals.” One of the principal ~jr l s was recently arrested because she appeared, clad only in a fig-leaf.

eighth, while D. Galvin (Marist) was more than useful behind the scrum. Of the B backs J. Staplev and B. O’Connell (Addington), the latter behind the scrum, caught the eye, and there was not much difference in the calibre of the two halves. The two packs were evenly matched and keen as mustard. W. Williamson (Marist) and B. Gahagan (Addington) were the pillars of the A side, and 11. Hunt (Lin wood) and 11. M’Keown (West Coaster) were in the thick of most of the work by the B side and stood out priminently. News and Notes. Ilughie Mears, who represented the South Island last year, but was handicapped from playing up to form by an injured shoulder, will, it is stated,'turn out for Christchurch Marists for the rest of the season. Mears is now living at Ashburton. .It is a pity he did not lay in the trial matches. Since the inception of the ex-West Coasters Club it will be noticed that they have suffered defeat on every occasion. Notwithstanding this fact, they have not forfeited a match. • In the early part of the season they had some difficulty in fielding a full team, consequently some heavy scores were run- up against them. Meantime, with very little encouragement, they are beginning to field a thirteen that, with a little luck, will extend the leading teams in the junior competition ’and also will be a deciding factor in the knock-out competition. In reviewing the players the club are to be congratulated on getting (in their first season) two players in the trials for a junior representative team. The two players in question have been the mainstays of the club. There are also two forwards who were decidedly unlucky in not finding a place in one of these teams, namely, M. Waghorn and C. Rodgers. There are also several young players who will, before the season ends, make their presence felt by a opposing side. The keenness of the players is evident by there being a full muster at practice on Thursday, in spite of these being no games for them on the following Saturday.
