N.Z.’S POPULATION STEADILY INCREASING. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, June 19. Preliminary census totals made available to-day show a total for New Zealand, excluding Western Samoa and Cook Island, and including the Maoris, of 1,407.165- Excluding Maoris, the total is 1.344.384. the increases being 135,501 and 129.707 respectively. The second number is an increase of 10 68 per cent since 1921. The North Island total is 891.970. an increase of 100.052, and the South Island total 515,195, an increase of 35.449, equal to 12.64 and 7.39 per cent.
