The coal strike position is unaltered, but it is generally expected that the compulsory conference to be held cn Monday will result in a settlement of the trouble: Restrictions placed on gas consumers in Sydney resulted in a reduction of thirty per cent, in the gasworks output. With the arrival of a shipment of coal and the promise of further supplies the restrictions are being interpreted liberally.
