NAT GOULD STORY

GIVES MANY THRILLS. “ GREAT TURF MYSTERY ” SCREENING AT GRAND. The principal feature at the Grand Theatre next week is a picture adapted from one of Nat Gould’s sensational track stories, ‘‘The Great Turf Mystery,” and is replete with all the incidents, action and intrigue that are alwavs a characteristic of this popular writer's books. Two of England’s finest artists appear in this picture, Violet Ilopson and Warwick Ward, and both do credit to the excellent production in which they are starred. Although the story is after Nat Gould’s customary style, it is sale to assert that it is more absorbingly thrilling, more intriguing and more romantic than his previous best effort. It is one long plot and counter-plot, as turf stories have a habit of being, but at no point is it bewildering: every event occurs evenly and clearly, and the romantic side has been developed with a due regard for all tastes. The racing scenes are particularly interesting, besides being breathlessly exciting. The acting throughout is of a high order, and helps considerably towards making the film the success it is.

Also billed on the programme is Cyclone Pete Morrison’s picture, “Triple Action,” which lives up to its reputation from the first flicker till the final fade-out. It is, of course, a Universal Western, and the amazingly daring ** stunts ’* this courageous actor performs are a veritable marvel. His famous horse is no less an actor and must be credited with a goodly share of the praise The Grand Quality Orchestra will play a special musical programme. The l>ox plans are at The Bristol Piano Company, where seats may be reserved.
