HOCKEY.

SEVENTH ROUND. SENIOR GRADE. The seventh round of the Canterbury Hockey Association’s competitions was played this afternoon. The weather was threatening - , but kept tine. The grounds were soft. SYDENHAM v. VABSITY, An exchange of attacks opened the game and Varsity went down to Sydenham’s circle, where a scramble endeu in Ford pushing the ball home. Varsity 1, Sydenham 0. Sydenham gained possession from the bully and Sheriff centred, but off-side play lost the chance. Holland and Knyvett led a strong Varsity attack, the latter’s shot going wide. Varsity had the best of game and a good shot by Cameron was saved biSnooks. Varsity kept up but Snooks effected some good saves. Sheri it’ put in a good solo run, which was intercepted by Newton. Play was in midfield for a'spell and in favour of Varsity, who forced their way into Sydenham's circle. Snooks saved, but Hill shot back and found the net. Varsity 2, Sydenham 0. Half-time score: Varsity 2, Sydenham 0. Sydenham pressed from the opening bully in the second half and Sheriffs put in a hot shot which Mackie saved. Varsity pressed back and Cameron centred and Sydenham w.ere forced. Varsity held the game in Sydenham’s circle, Ford centering well, but Macdonald cleared. Sydenham broke away and bv a combined effort reached Varsity’s circle. Sheriffs shot but Mackie saved. Ituthbridgo followed in and scored. Varsity 2, Sydenham 1. Sydenham gained the upper hand, but. Loney cleared. Ford broke away for Varsity and Sydenham were forced. Varsity returned and Hill put in a good one, which Snooks cleared to the line. Varsity persisted, but. Snooks was sound and saved a couple of hot shots. Final SYDENHAM 1

TECHNICAL v. OBLWYN. From the opening bully Selwyn pressed hard gaining a couple- of corners Jn quick succession from the second of which Bell passed to J. Squire, who netted easily. Selwyn 1, Technical 0. Selwyn continued to attack and from a roll in S. Bell centred hard to W. Richmond, who shot, but gave sticks. Technical broke away, headed by Coffey und Oracle, but Robb hit out. Technical gained the upper hand and from a corner Teague sent in a good one, which hit the poet, and Robb cleared. Technical kept up Ihe pressure and Teague and Oracle were prominent in a scramble from which the latter equalised, Selwyn 1, Technical 1. From a twentyfive bully in Technical's end P. Richmond centred well, but offside lost the chance. B. Kogerts set the Technical forwards moving, but Soffey’s shot was stopped. Robb, who conceded a corner from which Halm had a shot, but Robb was safe. Selwyn set off, but C. Rogers intercepted well. Coffey and Oracle headed a Technical attack, and Hahn had a -shot which cleared the net. Play centred In Selwyn’s end for a spell and then W. Bell and J. Squires carried play into their opponent’s circle, wlidre Wear cleared to the line. Technical regained possession. B. Rogers starting a forward movement, but Grade’s shot went high. Play returned to midfield and Selwyn gained a twenty-five. Halftime score: —- Selwyn 1, Technical 1. SELWYN V. TECHNICAL. Technical broke away from the bully but were quickly repulsed, and W. Richmond and S. Bell led a Selwyn attack from which the former found the net. Technical pressed their way to Selwyn’s circle and gained a corner, which was well cleared. Selwyn kept up the pressure, but off-side again lost a sure chance of scoring. Hahn led a Technical attack which Mahoney stopped by hitting out. C. Rogers made an opening for H.
