CHILDREN’S COURT HEARS ABOUT TWENTY CHARGES

Seven charges of boys cycling at night without lights, two of cycling on footpaths, and ten cf breaking and entering, were heard by Mr H. Y. Widdowson, S.M. and Mrs H. F. Herbert, recently appointed a member of the Children’s Court, to-day. One boy who had been caught with out a lamp said his father knew he had the use of the bicycle when returning from football practice. His father did not own a lamp, as he never went out at. nights. “Tell your father that he will have to pay a fine of 5s for you,” said Mr Widdowson. For cycling without lights two boys were fined 2s Gd each and one was dismissed with a caution. Two toys who had no lamps and were on the footpath were let off with a caution.
